As a programmer, I have found learning about networking and the internet, to use in my past applications, a challenge, especially because I was learning on my own. I found the first MobilityFirst workshop to be very engaging. I found it interesting learning about the Tier 1 Internet Service Providers, and how they passed down bandwidth and internet services to Tier 3 to supply to consumer homes. Also what spiked my enthusiasm to learn was the Internet Protocol Stack and the layers of the Internet. After the workshop, I conducted some research on a few of the items in the layers, mostly because I had no idea what they were for, like TCP, UDP, PPP, and CSMA. Even though, my past attempts of learning networking have failed, giving networking a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak, I feel excited about the next workshop and what surprise it might bring.
